Victorians in Year 5/6

The children in Year 5/6 have started to learn about the Victorians. Last week they pretended to be Victorian school children by writing on slate boards with slate pencils and wrote some Victorian style letters.

This week they learnt how the Victorians washed their clothes. The children experienced using a ‘dolly tub’ and ‘stick’ which is a metal tub and a wooden stick with handles at the top and three sticks at the bottom. They also used wooden pegs to hang them out which are called ‘dolly pegs’.

The children had lots of fun while learning about their new topic.
