Before leaving Swinemoor today, each of our Year 6 pupils was presented with their own Swinemoor Primary Shield Final photo in our school hall — a special keepsake to remember a proud moment in their primary school journey and their time at Swinemoor.

Wishing all of our Year 6 pupils the very best for the future.

This morning's assembly was dedicated to celebrating our wonderful Year 6 leavers and the many contributions they have made during their time at Swinemoor Primary.

A wide range of awards were presented, recognising achievements in areas such as music, leadership, and being a helpful and supportive member of our school community. In front of an audience of proud parents and families, the awards were presented by Mr Myers.

While not every child could take home a trophy, every single pupil was nominated in at least one category — a reflection of the talent, character and achievements of this exceptional year group.

Following the presentations, pupils, parents and staff came together to watch a special film celebrating some of the memories and moments that have made their time at Swinemoor Primary so memorable. The film is now available to watch on the school website within the Latest News section.

We are incredibly proud of all our Year 6 pupils and wish them every success as they leave us and begin their next adventure.

Recently, our amazing Year 6 pupils stepped into the world of business as they took on the Young Apprentice Challenge. Armed with a budget of just £15, each team had to decide what to buy, how to market their ideas and how to turn their investment into profit.

From planning and budgeting to pricing and selling, our young entrepreneurs put their business skills to the test as pupils from across the school visited their stalls to snap up their creative products.

The results were impressive. Every single group made a profit, with the most successful team turning their £15 investment into more than £60 in sales.

Better still, every penny of profit will go back into supporting school funds.

A brilliant example of entrepreneurship, teamwork and real-life maths in action. Well done to all of our Year 6 Young Apprentices.

This week, one of our school choirs had the privilege of piloting The Beverley Minster Destination Project by performing Songs of Pilgrimage.

The children practised in school on several occasions this term, using music to share the stories of Beverley Minster as a place of pilgrimage and reflection.

The project forms part of a wider initiative to restore, preserve and share the Minster with both the local community and visitors from further afield.

The project is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, The Beverley Minster Old Fund, Two Churches One Town and the Friends of Beverley Minster.

Further information is available on the Minster's website:

A film that shows the magnificent performance is now available on the front page of the school website.

Earlier this week, we were excited to welcome representatives from the National Children's Orchestra to our school. The children enjoyed meeting two very special musical instruments – the bassoon and the saxophone – and learned all about what they are called and how they make their unique sounds.

Our visitors also performed some short pieces of music, giving everyone the chance to hear these wonderful instruments in action. It was a fantastic experience that inspired lots of curiosity and enthusiasm for music across the school!

Thank you to @nyo_gb for visiting us. You can find out more about the National Children's Orchestra and upcoming NYO concerts on their website at nyo.org.uk, or catch them at the Proms on BBC One on Saturday 8th August!
