‘Stand Out for Guide Dogs’ Day
Today it is ‘Stand Out for Guide Dogs’ day here at Swinemoor Primary School. The school council decided to hold today’s event to raise money for the guide dogs. Everyone had to dress in something yellow and had to bring a small donation in.
During assembly, Mr Whomsley came in to talk to us about guide dogs because he works to train them. The children asked lots of interesting questions to find out more about his job and how today’s money will be spent. We found out that it takes 33 weeks to fully train a dog and it costs £28,000 to train just one guide dog.
At playtime, we interviewed Mr Whomsley to find out even more about his job.
