Languages Vision
Our School Aims perfectly capture our Vision for Languages.
Achieve beyond expectations –
Every year, KS2 pupils build up to producing a piece of French portfolio work that is, where possible, of a standard higher than that at which they would regularly work. KS1 and EYFS pupils enjoy exposure and engagement at a high level with French culture
Be proud of our community, our school, our achievements and our peers –
French is celebrated with pride in Friday Celebration Assemblies, when French Graduates are regularly rewarded. Once a half term the whole school participates in French Morning which allows children to be exposed to and share French cuisine and culture with their peers.
Compete, with the belief that we have every chance of success –
University Challenge, on the final week of the school year, includes French Graduates who compete for a trophy.
Develop a culture where we take appropriate risk, understanding this is how people learn, grow and achieve things they thought were too difficult –
French lessons encourage children to speak and present their ideas in the French language. Speaking in a non-native language in front of peers is a challenge and a risk the children rise to consistently within French lessons.
Enable people to work together, in order to achieve more than we could on our own –
French lessons regularly include paired and group work and discussion.
